Whether you want to establish yourself as a thought leader, hire staff, or connect with key influencers, LinkedIn is a powerful branding tool for businesses. With over 800 million members worldwide, there is an incredible opportunity to expand the company's reach.

Check out these business tips to get the most out of LinkedIn.

  1. Please update your LinkedIn profile before your presentation. Attendees will review it and rate your credibility.
  2. Convert generic links to your website into calls to action, especially in your company profile.
  3. Create an entry for each role you performed within each role. It's okay if the dates overlap.
  4. Share quality information with your network and build connections that become alliances.
  5. The ideal length for a long post on LinkedIn is 500 to 1,200 words. Adjust the length to suit your audience.
  6. Skip the “How did you know this person” step. Click “Connect from search results instead of profile.”
  7. Want another person or company to see your LinkedIn status updates? Use @mentions when posting.
  8. Don't be a wallflower. If you join a group and are active, your profile is 5 times more likely to be seen than hers.
  9. Don't be self-centered when introducing yourself. Be generous, honest, and focused on the other person.
  10. Looking for a new job on LinkedIn? Don't tell your boss. Turn off activity broadcasts.
  11. LinkedIn users who regularly update their profiles receive more job offers than those who contact recruiters.

  1. Censor yourself. Don't say anything in a LinkedIn group or post that you wouldn't say in a job interview.
  2. Schedule a time to be active on LinkedIn. View your profile, monitor updates, and participate in discussions.
  3. Integrate Evernote with LinkedIn to organize your business cards, LinkedIn information, and networking notes in one place.
  4. Use your LinkedIn profile as a sales tool. Add a short video about your company to your profile.
  5. Add value to your LinkedIn group: Share visual presentations that will engage group members.
  6. Profiles with photos are 14x more likely to be viewed. Use professional images with neutral backgrounds.
  7. Avoid profile buzzwords like creative and motivational. Keep adjectives to a minimum. Emphasize the verb.
  8. Don't use automatic invitation messages that say, “I'd like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn.”
  9. A study by LinkedIn found that posting 20 posts per month allows you to reach 60% of your unique audience.
  10. The best times to post on LinkedIn are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. local time.
  11. Company updates with images receive 98% more comments than updates without images.

  1. You are unique. prove Instead of leaving your current job title as the default, use a creative heading.
  2. Help recruiters, prospects, and potential partners find you. Use keywords throughout your LinkedIn profile.
  3. Successful LinkedIn content often provides ready-to-use takeaways in the form of a list.
  4. Support those you respect. If someone supports you, send them a thank you message.
  5. List your volunteer experience on LinkedIn. 42% of recruiters value formal work experience as much as formal work experience.
  6. LinkedIn Groups offer one of the best personal branding opportunities available on social media.
  7. Struggling to fill a role at your company? Instead of hiring a recruiter, consider joining LinkedIn's Recruiter service.
  8. Share original content. “Currently, his content is viewed six times more on his LinkedIn than his work-related activity.”
  9. Use visuals. Embed SlideShare presentations and infographics into your profile or long-form posts.
