The Roanoke Metropolitan Board of Appeals has approved the construction of 175 apartment units proposed for people living below the median income under municipal law.
In granting a special exception to the project at 735 Norfolk Ave. SW, the Zoning Commission said Feb. 14 that the project is generally consistent with surrounding community and city development goals and will not impose an undue burden on public utilities. Agreed. According to the application, the project is envisioned as a four-story apartment building with a pool.
The developer received zoning approval Feb. 14 to build 175 apartments at Norfolk Street and Southwest 8th Avenue in Roanoke. This is his site posted in August 2023.

One-bedroom units will cost between $750 and $1,050, and two-bedroom units will run between $850 and $1,300, according to the application.
