Now accepting registrations for LEDA classes for entrepreneurs and small business owners

The Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) has launched The Business Life Cycle, a free educational series designed to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge and tools to navigate every stage of their business. Registration for the 4th round has begun.

This four-part program is designed to turn your business idea into reality, enhance your existing operations, and increase sales.

The event will be held on Wednesdays, April 3rd through April 24th, at 211 E. Devalcourt Street. Check-in and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., and the program runs from noon to 1:30 p.m.

LEDA President and CEO Mandy Mitchell said: “Business Life Cycle provides a unique opportunity for attendees to gain insights from industry experts, participate in hands-on exercises, and access valuable resources.” Whether you're a budding entrepreneur looking to turn an idea into a successful business, or an experienced business owner looking to refine your strategy, this series is designed to meet your needs. Business Life Cycle promises to be an enlightening series that allows you to shape the future of your business.”

Each session will be moderated by Marc D. Mouton, LEDA's Director of Business Retention and Growth.

  • Wednesday, April 3rd | Creating the foundation: Business plan
    • Compare the business plan and business model canvas
    • Business model canvas overview
    • Business structure: explains sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, S-Corp, etc.
    • Speakers: Corey Jack (Jack & Associates), Destin Ortego (Opportunity Machine), Brittany Deal (LEDA)
  • Wednesday, April 10th | Grow your audience: Bullseye Marketing
    • growth marketing strategy
    • Consider your target audience
    • traction channel
    • Speakers: Theresa Goldkamp (Opportunity Machine) and Tom Cox (Golfballs.com)
  • Wednesday, April 17th | Developing goals: Strategic planning for your business
    • Mission statement, environmental analysis, SMART goals, and planning horizons
    • Business development strategy and certification: B to C, B to B, government procurement, etc.
    • Speaker: Dr. Patricia Lanier (UL Lafayette)
  • Wednesday, April 24th | Future financing: financing, capital, loans
    • Banks and alternative finance companies
    • Type of loan and/or funding source
    • Financial programs and resources
    • Speakers: Brandy Ledet (Louisiana Economic Development), Lauren Titan (Louisiana Small Business Development Center), Kristen Trahan (Chase), Eddie A Buttross (First Horizon)
