An economic developer has purchased an office building on Starkey Road for a so-far secret project that won't be made public until the summer.
When the company acquired the former headquarters building on May 17 for $1.9 million, Delta Dentistry, VirginiaRoanoke County economic development officials are preparing “projects that have yet to be announced,” spokeswoman Amy Whitaker said.
None of the county officials would explain what the economic team hopes to bring to the table.

Delta Dental is relocating from a two-story, 12,500-square-foot building to a building four times that size on Airport Road. County Administrator Richard Caywood was asked if the Starkey address is set to get another office user. He said he doesn't foresee a change in the address's land use zoning. The fact that the county purchased the furniture along with the building makes that point stand out.
