In an appearance on The Drew Barrymore ShowMcIntyre, 68, described their marriage as “a situation where it was always a business.”
“I think it works for some people. They can get married, they can have relationships, they can work together. Our jobs have always been there,” she said. “We've been married for 26 years. We started out together in a band. He was a member of the band, then became my manager, then my husband, but it was… It was always a business-like situation. Whether we were getting ready in the morning or having pillow talk or whatever, it was business.”
That business relationship extended to vacations, McIntyre said.

A joint statement at the time of the divorce read: “Despite the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. ”

“When Shelby ran at Daytona, it literally killed me,” she said. “When he came around that corner, all I could see was my little baby face in the helmet. I almost passed out because I had to sit down. But they… You have to let them chase their dreams. Mom did it.”
