Capcom says it is on track to meet its profit forecast for the year, with all business segments beating plans in the most recent quarter.
The Monster Hunter publisher reported its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2024, saying that both net sales (down 32.5%) and operating profit (down 46.4%) were in line with plan, despite both being down significantly compared to the same period last year.
The company attributed the year-on-year sales decline to the release of Street Fighter 6 in June last year, and noted that releases are concentrated towards the second half of the fiscal year ending March 2025.
Now, the publisher has confirmed that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released in September, with Monster Hunter Wilds' release window currently a vague “2025.”
Capcom's arcade business (including stores), amusement equipment business (including slot machines), and other business (including events and e-sports) all saw increases during the quarter.
“During the three months ending June 30, 2024, sales from Capcom's core digital content business were driven by the release of existing titles on additional platforms and catalog sales of major titles released in the previous fiscal year, as the release of new titles is concentrated in the second half of this fiscal year,” the company said.
“As a result, sales volume was 9.53 million units, which is a decrease compared to the same period last year when Street Fighter 6 was released, but we made steady progress toward achieving our full-year target and were in line with our plan.”
Capcom's latest major hit, the critically acclaimed RPG Dragon's Dogma 2, has sold 3 million copies since its release in March, bringing the Dragon's Dogma series as a whole to more than 12 million copies. Dragon's Dogma 2 was notable for being Capcom's first $70 title.
