London, Tokyo, May 9, 2023: Actis, a global investor in sustainable infrastructure, has launched Nozomi Energy, a new US$500 million renewable platform focused on Japan. Nozomi aims to generate 1.1GW of onshore wind and solar power by 2027. The investment comes from his fifth and latest energy infrastructure fund in Actis, and represents his $6 billion in investable capital.
Actis has hired a dedicated management team to run Nozomi and execute its buy-and-build strategy. The team is led by an experienced energy expert with nearly 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector (including over 11 years in Japan), most recently as President and CEO of Hinode Energy. José Antonio Milan Ruano, who previously worked at Univergy Solar.
Actis has signed its first investment and seed assets in Nozomi from Infrastructure SpA, a leading internationally active renewable energy developer and IPP led by Pier Francesco Limbotti, subject to customary closing conditions. Acquired 100% stock of Helgo Japan Energy Corporation.
Hergo Japan Energy has a portfolio of operating and development stage solar and onshore wind projects totaling approximately 230MW, as well as a significant pipeline of early stage projects.
