Dallas — In a launch at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2024, ATR has revealed the advanced design of its new all-business class configuration, part of the ATR HighLine cabin collection.
This development comes just a year after ATR introduced its premium cabin configuration aimed at enhancing the in-flight experience for business aviation, commercial airlines and charter flights.
ATR Highline Cabin, ETEREA Business Seat
The ATR Highline cabin can be installed as a retrofit or as new, making it flexible for a variety of aviation needs. One of the distinctive features of the Highline cabin is its wider cross section compared to private jets, which not only improves passenger comfort but also reduces fuel consumption by 45%, making the cabin ideal for short-haul regional routes where efficiency is paramount.
The new all-Business Class configuration features a unique 1-1 layout, offering spacious, individual business seats with direct window views and aisle access. Named “ETEREA,” these custom seats were designed and built by Geven and offer ample legroom, recline and a generous 21.6 inches of width. Each seat includes a personal side console that serves as both a table and storage compartment, made possible by the ATR's wider cross-section.
“The ETEREA Business seat was designed by Geven exclusively for ATR. It fits ATR's standard seat rails, allowing for easy customization and modification of aircraft. Passengers will enjoy a truly premium journey from take-off to landing, taking regional aviation to new heights,” said Zuzana Hrnkova, VP Marketing at ATR.
The all-Business Class configuration includes several options, including an executive ceiling that eliminates overhead bins, USB A+C charging ports, in-flight entertainment, high-speed internet access and premium material finishes.

Configure, customize, and launch
At AIX 2023, ATR unveiled five configurations of its HighLine cabin. Notably, the ATR 72 in a HighLine multi-class configuration is positioned as a replacement for the CRJ200 in the U.S. This configuration includes a Premium Flex interior similar to what the ERJ's JSX offers.
An undisclosed customer has already received the HighLine multi-section cabin with a VIP front section and a conventional 2 x 2 rear seating arrangement, and for those looking for a bespoke solution, the HighLine bespoke VIP configuration allows for complete customisation to meet specific customer needs.
Malaysia-based airline Berjaya Air (J8) will be the launch customer for the new all-business class configuration, deploying two customised ATR 72-600 Highline all-business class aircraft from 2025 to serve the group's numerous luxury hotels and resorts. The modifications to Berjaya Air's aircraft will be carried out through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
“This new luxury shuttle configuration enhances our guests' experience and redefines corporate and semi-private travel without compromising sustainability. The ATR Highline Cabin Collection is designed to offer unparalleled comfort, luxury and convenience while benefiting from the superior fuel efficiency of turboprop technology,” added Zuzana Hrunkova.

Environmental and economic impacts
The introduction of the Lilium Jet is expected to significantly enhance the French Riviera's transport infrastructure, providing a sustainable and time-efficient alternative to traditional travel modes. UrbanV's vertical takeoff and landing site will play a key role in this transformation by providing sustainable ground infrastructure that ensures safe and seamless operations.
ATR says the development is not only a major step towards environmental sustainability, but will also enhance the area's attractiveness as a premier tourist and business destination.
Once operational, the regional network will provide a fast, safe and sustainable means of transport, significantly reducing journey times compared to car travel. This initiative highlights the potential of eVTOL technology to revolutionise regional air mobility and sets a precedent for similar developments across Europe and beyond.
