CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) — For the second day in a row, firefighters from the Cleveland Fire Department were called to a business owned by a former Cleveland Browns player.
The first call was for a small fire causing approximately $5,000 in damage, but the second call reported a larger fire causing extensive damage.
The industrial building at the intersection of E. 55th Street and Lake Court is home to The Clean Group, a commercial laundry company that offers uniform, linen and towel rentals, as well as laundry, bathroom and office supplies.
The dryer fire was reported at 7 a.m. Wednesday, and then at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, large flames were seen coming from the building and firefighters reported the roof had collapsed.
Video from the scene early Thursday morning can be seen below.:
It's unclear if the two incidents are related. Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of Thursday's massive blaze and will also look into the possibility that the two fires are somehow related, according to Lt. Mike Norman.
According to the company's website, Clean Group was founded by former Cleveland Browns player Joe Jurevicius.
He told FOX 8 News:
“I am saddened that the lives of all of our employees will be interrupted for the foreseeable future. They have helped build what represents a Cleveland and Northeast Ohio based company, and the hard work they have put in seems to have vanished, which is painful. I know only that we will come back stronger, reunited, but this is painful in so many ways. Thank you to the Cleveland Fire Department. Thank you to all of you.”
