As leaders and small business owners, sometimes things aren't okay, and that's okay.

The other day I went to the grocery store and bought $7 worth of red peppers. Through sticker shock, I reasoned with myself that I had to do it. Bell peppers are incredibly healthy and I use them in a variety of dishes, but I wasn't going to let my kids live on French fries alone.

The reasons I struggled with this decision in the produce aisle are the same for all of us. Vegetables shouldn't be so expensive, and neither should everything else. I stood there disappointed and looked around at the other shoppers and realized we were all in the same situation. Our world is pretty crazy right now, so I asked myself: How do you create sanity in an upside-down world? More importantly, How can we, and our businesses, thrive?

Overcoming disillusionment in your personal and professional life

It's no surprise that inflation, crime, and poor mental health are all closely linked. we are humans. Everyone is doing their best and people are at a stage where they have to make desperate efforts to survive. America is one of the richest countries in the world, but the wheels seem to have gone off the rails. People are in dire straits and it feels like they have lost their moral fortitude.

We live in an increasingly alienated, politicized, and hateful world, and the cause of all this is deep-rooted fear: fear in both our personal and professional lives. But this disillusionment can both bring us down and uplift us at the same time.Given the problems we face, do we choose to do nothing or innovation. Many businesses are struggling during this time, but those that are thriving are choosing to explore new solutions. The truth is that what is happening in the world can make us all better and stronger with the right mindset. Here's how:

1. Understand that you are not alone

My personal key to success despite disillusionment and worry is to focus on the knowledge that if I'm afraid of something, countless others are too. When a mental health issue arises, someone else has to deal with it too. The horrendous food bill to feed your family gives you palpitations just like it does for everyone else. If I struggle with leadership decisions, you better believe that countless leaders do too.

I can't, but Control In our current world, take a moment in the produce aisle and understand that we are not alone in this situation. The pandemic, protests, and rising serious crime are all things we cannot control. Now more than ever, it's time for us to focus on what we want. can Control: What you do for yourself and how you relate to your family, team members, customers and followers.

2. Lead from the heart

I'm an Instagram influencer, but lately I've been having doubts about that word. How do we influence? What influence do we have? These questions are more important than ever because we can overcome negative situations through the decisions we make in life and business. The leadership strategy of “influencing from the heart” may not be discussed much, but as business owners, content producers, and entrepreneurs, we can lead from the heart and maintain a creative spirit in the face of challenges. must be nourished.

This is how we want to be seen by our customers, our team members, and even the people we pass on the street. saw. The best way to do this is to do it from the heart. Today's successful companies understand this important principle. The world has changed and so have they. There's an old adage that the customer is always right. My view is that in today's climate, it is always true that customers need a genuine human touch. We all need it in this time of disillusionment.

3. Overcome the false belief that “I’m okay”

“I'm fine” is one of the biggest accusations. Even if you're a leader or a small business owner, sometimes it's not okay. Acknowledging this is an expression of your humanity and contributes to the well-being of everyone around you. Our society strives to play the role of being strong, resilient, and fashionable. I think these qualities are great, but we gain even more strength and resilience when we admit the moments when we feel weak.

This is especially important in business, but most people don't realize it. When leaders let team members know when they are feeling unwell or in some kind of distress, they become more resilient. It's okay if it's not okay. When we give each other strength during difficult times, we all come through and become more resilient. The same principle applies if your business or sales are “not okay.” Being honest about what's going on opens the door to what needs to be done. Ignoring it will have the opposite effect.

4. Take a step back from the chaos.

When I step away from this crazy world, I ask myself: “What should I say to my children?'' The answer came to me as I held a red chili pepper in my hand.

Look around. Everyone is struggling. People breaking into stores are having a hard time (but that doesn't mean they have to break in). Those who suffer from depression and anxiety are struggling, and so are those trying to make ends meet.

Entrepreneurs and leaders often feel the need to move forward. People rely on us and success is our main goal. But modern superheroes need to be taken a step back and evaluated. There are so many new variables in our world. Reacting out of fear is not the right choice. In a crisis situation, of course you need to think for yourself, but if you are dealing with a situation that requires more time, then do it. Giving yourself that moment will help you soar and gain perspective.

thrive despite disillusionment

Entrepreneurship teaches us to be strong, confident and resourceful. Our current fast-paced world teaches us to be bigger – to be both vulnerable and strong in our communication with each other. We see what we see. When it comes to news, we get what we get. Now more than ever, our interactions are complex, difficult, and critical.

Disillusionment in America feels like a pandemic hangover, but there are bigger lessons to be learned from it. People feel sick sometimes.perhaps you I feel sick. Your business may be damaged. But it's important to know that It's okay if it's not okay. This further understanding and awareness is essential for your family, entrepreneurship, and yourself.

Step away from the world and focus on what you need to do give. It is the most important decision about your life and career.
