West Pharmacy on Electric Road in Roanoke County has closed.
“We basically just retired,” owner Mitch West said.
The independent pharmacy in the Southwest Plaza Shopping Center had been open for 20 years, according to online license records. I received free online reviews interspersed with comments such as “Always putting the patient first.”
A sign on the door directing customers to the Walgreens at Brambleton Avenue and Electric Road said their prescription records would be transferred there.
Fuel prices within 1 year
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline on Tuesday was $3.44 per gallon in the Blacksburg-Christianburg-Radford area and $3.35 in the Roanoke area, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic. By comparison, last year's price was $3.57 in the NRV community and $3.52 in the Roanoke area.

September home sales report is out.
According to the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors, 432 homes were sold in the Roanoke area during September for an average price of $341,189. By comparison, in the same month in 2022, there were 512 sales for an average price of $312,744.
Two trends are evident: rising prices and falling sales volumes.
The average sales price has exceeded $300,000 for 18 consecutive months. Back in 2020, the average at the end of the year was $265,544.
On the other hand, the number of home sales in September of this year (432 units) was lower than in 2022 (512 units), 2021 (582 units), and 2020 (615 units).
