The former head of the British Civil Service is set to succeed Javier Ferran when he steps down from the role next year.

Diageo plc, the global alcoholic drinks retailer, has announced that its current non-executive director, Sir John Manzoni KCB, will be appointed chairman of the board on or about February 5, 2025, following the retirement of current chairman Javier Ferran. announced. Mr Manzoni led the UK Civil Service from 2014 to 2020 and joined the Diageo board in October 2020. He currently chairs the board of the energy multinational SSE plc and the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE plc), a facility of the UK Ministry of Defence. He is a non-executive director of his KBR, Inc. engineering and technology business. From 2004 until 2015 he was a non-executive director of SAB Miller plc.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Manzoni served as president and chief executive officer of Talisman Energy and held a number of senior management positions at BP plc.
