Kochi: Figures emerging from the Huddle Global Summit 2023, the fifth edition of the Kerala Startup Mission's flagship event held in Thiruvananthapuram recently, show that the stakes in the startup ecosystem in Kerala There are many reasons to be optimistic. Founders, investors and mentors came together over his three-day period to prepare for a total investment of $20 million, which could total around Rs 160 million.
During the event, more than 250 startups had the opportunity to pitch their ideas to 75 investors. From among them, more than 50 companies have been shortlisted by investors for further negotiations, according to information from the organizers. These companies stand a chance of getting investments of up to around Rs 160 crore if they continue to convince investors about their products, strategies and market potential.
“Even if half of the investors exit in the next phase, there will be investments worth Rs 8,000 crore, which is still a good number for a relatively small ecosystem like Kerala. In such a scenario, following conventional thinking, the valuation of the company would be around Rs 4,000 crore once the investor's significant stake reaches 20%. But this is also an encouraging number,” said an ecosystem analyst who requested anonymity. Onmanorama.
The three-day event held at Adimaratura Beach facilitated multiple opportunities for founders and other aspiring entrepreneurs to interact with investors and mentors. The public pitch session gave more than 40 startups the opportunity to pitch their ideas to investors. During the “Pitch-it-Right” session, 150 startups met with around 40 investors.
Vineet Mohan, a Kochi-based investor and co-founder of Konglo Ventures, said from the event that he learned about the diverse nature of the ecosystem in terms of revenue as well as the startup sector in Kerala. He said he was able to find out.
“There's been a lot of discussion with the community, which we hope will lead to investments in those companies.
