pendleton – This year’s Pendleton Urban Renewal “Pathway to Success” Business Plan Competition received 22 entries. The top four finishers will receive their $20,000 in the form of a forgivable loan from the Pendleton Development Commission, which will be used to start a business in downtown Pendleton.
This year, there are new ways to win. Nixyaawii Community Financial Services is sponsoring his $2,500 grant challenge for tribal entrepreneurs. Pendleton Urban Renewal Associate Director Charles DeKnight said NCFS' involvement has made a difference.
“This year we had 22 applicants,” he said. “Of the 22 applicants, 12 are tribal members.”
Currently, 22 people are working on business plans. You should also take a business planning class. To qualify for Path to Success's forgivable loan, she needs $10,000 to invest in the business. A $500 investment is required to qualify for the Tribal grant. If you are not selected, you can apply again in 2025. Downtown businesses include retail stores and restaurants. Possible retail businesses include clothing, shoes, gifts, books, home furnishings, kitchenware, minimarts, manufacturers and other artists, and recreational activities.
The restaurant category also applies to delis, dessert bars, or other forms of retail food and beverage sales. The food cart will not qualify for a forgivable loan from his PDC, but it will qualify for the tribal grant program.
