Ypsilanti – Eastern Michigan University will host the 2024 Ceci Midwest Entrepreneurship Conference and Skandalaris Business Plan Competition on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 9 a.m. at McKenney’s Ballroom, 878 W Cross St. in Ypsilanti . This free, half-day event celebrates and fosters the entrepreneurial spirit of high school and college students, teachers, and community members from across the Midwest, as well as an opportunity to pitch their business ideas for cash prizes.
“The opportunity to celebrate entrepreneurship and young entrepreneurs is an important force for positive change in our community,” said Sanjiv Chaudhry, faculty director of the EMU Center for Entrepreneurship. “The Ceci Midwest Entrepreneurship Conference is a unique opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to connect with inspiring leaders, learn valuable skills, and compete for prizes to make their dreams a reality.”
The conference will feature special guest speakers Sean Gray and Bhushan Kulkarni, renowned entrepreneurs and thought leaders. Attendees will also be able to participate in a panel discussion where successful business owners Aksha Jones, Mark Alexander, Chris Powers and Vanessa Lane will share their insights and experiences.
The focus of the conference is Scandalalis Business Plan Competition, high school and college students compete for prizes of up to $1,000 and the coveted “Best Presentation” award. Three finalists from each category will present their business plans and showcase their entrepreneurial potential in front of a panel of judges.
Donor Bob Skanderaris, who founded the business plan competition in 2009, said, “Building a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem starts with supporting young people with innovative ideas.” , said, “This competition provides students with a platform to hone their skills and receive valuable feedback from experienced professionals.” ”
