Hanoi July 14, 2023 – Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said on July 14, 2023, National Action Plan to Strengthen Responsible Business Practices in VietnamThis marks an important milestone in the country's efforts to promote responsible business practices. This decision provides for the implementation of the National Action Plan for the period 2023-2027.
The National Action Plan (NAP) is the result of fruitful cooperation over the past five years between UNDP and the Ministry of Justice in Vietnam, with support from Sweden. This collaboration included organizing consultation workshops, meetings, and technical working group discussions to provide feedback and input on the draft NAP to ensure its quality and effectiveness. Additionally, various stakeholders including businesses, civil society organizations (CSOs) and international experts have been involved in the development of his NAP.
NAP represents a solid step in line with global trends in responsible business and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). NAP aims to encourage and empower businesses to operate responsibly, taking into account the principles of 'Profit, People and Planet' (3Ps).
The NAP encompasses a comprehensive set of actions and solutions across five thematic areas: investment, labor, protection of vulnerable groups, environmental protection and consumer protection, to raise awareness and build stakeholder capacity. It serves as a foundation to foster an environment that is reinforcing and enabling engagement. and ensure access to remedies. It also emphasizes the importance of holding companies accountable for their actions.
The NAP is the beginning of an ongoing effort to promote responsible business practices throughout the county. Its success depends on the commitment and active participation of governments, businesses and society as a whole.
