
MERCY, N.Y. — Seven student teams have been selected as regional finalists in the Mohawk Valley Regional Semifinals of the New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC), hosted by New York State Polytechnic Institute, the university announced in a press release.
Four NYU Poly student-led ventures, along with teams featuring students from SUNY Cobleskill and Hamilton College, have advanced to the finals in a statewide competition.
In the food and agritech space, there's Haliman's, led by SUNY Poly's Amar Halimanovic. First place went to Feed Your Soul, led by Isabella Allotta of the State University of New York, Cobleskill, and second place.
Utrovac LLC, led by Hamilton College's Jesse Wexler and Ellie Sangree, won top honors in the Safety, Power and Mobility categories.
Hutnumber22, a student-led team from the State University of New York led by Inzamam-ul-Haq Shaikh and Sai Manideep Reddy Rakireddy, and Tassel, led by Lucas Nowlan and Joshua Bump, will help students learn, work, and They took first and second place in the lifestyle category, respectively.
In the products and hardware category, Jacob Lujbli of SUNY Cobleskill's FixStix received top honors.
SUNY Poly's Truthentic Solutions by Natalie Bonila, Long Phan, Queyn Carbera and Jake Leland took first place in the Software and Services category.
Prizes were awarded to the overall winning teams, including $2,000 for grand prize winner Eutrobac, $1,000 for second place Hailman's, and $500 for first place winner Hutnumber22, who exemplifies the character of the region.
The Mohawk Valley semifinal competition attracted the attention of 26 students who participated as part of 10 teams who pitched business proposals for a chance to advance to the final round of the statewide competition and win cash prizes. Regional competitions were held in his 10 economic development regions across the state.
Regional winners can now submit materials for a chance to qualify for the state finals, which will be held on April 25th and feature a $25,000 prize.
The New York Business Plan Competition, sponsored by the New York State Upstate Capital Association, promotes entrepreneurial opportunities for college students across the state who pitch their business plans to experienced investors. You will also have the opportunity to interact with business leaders and judges. The finals connect students and business professionals, provide experiential learning opportunities, connect entrepreneurs with resources, and award prizes of up to $100,000 to plant the seeds of new ventures.
