DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University will launch its annual business plan competition this summer with more than $250,000 in prizes.
“With the Ohio Wesleyan University Business Plan Competition, we are not only serving Delaware, but Columbus, Ohio and the United States,” said a statement announcing the competition Tuesday at Ohio Wesleyan University's Delaware Entrepreneurial Center. said University President Matt Vandenberg.
“This competition recognizes up-and-coming entrepreneurs and rewards their potential with prizes that include financial investments and other innovative resources, including access to our on-campus entrepreneurship center.” Nberg said. “Award winners will develop at OWU in December and advance Delaware's reputation as a destination for business and talent. This is an exciting new chapter for OWU, Delaware, and entrepreneurs from around the world. .”
The OWU Business Plan Competition includes both a student track, open to all current university students, and a community track, open to all other students. Her first, second and third place winners in both categories will receive a combination of products, services and investments to move forward, including access to the Delaware Entrepreneurship Center and its resources.
Phil Smith, the center's director, said companies interested in taking part in the competition would be pre-screened using an online application starting July 1. The most promising companies will advance based on criteria such as completeness of business plan and existing existing business plans. Financing and the Potential Impact of Products and Services.
“Participants will gain real-world experience, receive expert advice and discover their path forward to make their startup dreams a reality,” Smith said. “This is an exciting moment for the Delaware Entrepreneur Center and for all entrepreneurs looking to make their mark.”
