Delivery drivers and cyclists in New York City can now drop off packages with a soda in hand.
Chick-fil-A opens a break room pop-up on Manhattan's Upper East Side to thank the city's nearly 65,000 delivery workers who brave winter weather to serve New York diners. did.
“In large metropolitan areas like New York City, the same food delivery people come several times a day, almost every day. It's how that helps them refuel as they go into their shift,'' Jared Caldwell, owner and operator of Chick-fil-A in New York City, said in a release announcing the space. “The food delivery community powers our business, and this is just our small way of showing our appreciation for what they do.”

From February 16th to April 13th, workers who have provided proof of a completed food delivery order with DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Postmates, Caviar, or Seamless within the past week will receive orders from Chick-fil-A as well as All food deliveries can be done. Enter the brake room.
The oddly named space is aptly equipped with indoor bike storage and areas to sit and relax. Additionally, patrons have access to snacks, cell phone charging outlets, Wi-Fi, and restrooms.
The Brake Room is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., but closed on Sundays. This is a practice at all Chick-fil-A stores.

News of the pop-up comes as data shows food delivery orders have tripled since 2017, and a company release said Chick-fil-A will have the highest number of deliveries in New York City in winter 2022. According to Business Insider, making this space available solves an ongoing problem for delivery workers, who are not guaranteed access to bathrooms or shelter by the delivery apps that employ them.
