MONROE, Conn. — Miro Motors plans to open a repair shop and used car sales business at the Bart Center, 604 Main Street. A public hearing on the special permit application is scheduled to be held during the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting this Thursday at the Monroe City Council Chambers.City Hall at 7 p.m.
Firas Samander, owner and operator of Miro Motors LLC, wrote an open letter to town residents expressing his enthusiasm for the proposal, which is on file in the application at Monroe City Hall.
“I am pleased to share my proposal to establish a repair shop with used vehicle sales as an accessory use at 604 Main Street,” he wrote. “Our vision is to provide reliable repairs and a selection of high-quality used vehicles, providing a one-stop solution to our customers' automotive needs.”
Neighbors of the property, also listed in the application as 590 Main Street, previously expressed strong opposition to CM Collision Repair's plans to open there. That's because that use is only allowed in the Industrial 2 zone, and Main Street is allowed that use. The property on the street is located very close to the West Branch of the Pekonnock River.
First Selectman Terry Rooney worked with Town Attorney Frank Rieto to resolve the issue, and after Rieto wrote a legal opinion, business owner Luis Alfredo Retamosa decided to find a new location for the auto collision repair shop. I made it.
In contrast, Miro Motors' proposed general auto repair use is an existing nonconforming use at 604 Main St., which is in the Business 1 zone.
“…Establishing a repair shop in Monroe is a strategic undertaking to meet the automotive needs of the community,” Samander wrote. “With well-researched market analysis showing demand for reliable repair services, the expertise of our team, and a commitment to excellent customer service, this initiative not only addresses local needs, but also grows Monroe's economic growth.” We will also contribute.”
“We look forward to your help in realizing this vision and fostering a thriving and reliable automotive service hub for Monroe residents,” he concluded. “No changes will be made to the facility and it will operate based on its current structure.”
self storage facility
This Thursday, the Planning and Zoning Commission will also hold a public hearing on a regulatory amendment petition to establish a special design district within the Main Street Design District overlay at 515-517 Street. The hearing will continue from January 18th.
SDD allows a self-storage facility to be built there, and conceptual drawings show construction of two buildings, but separate approvals will be required once SDD is established.
